West Palm Beach, Florida
Please briefly describe your current job:
I forecast for Southeast Florida and communicate that forecast on-air, on our website, and on social media. I also attend events where I represent the station and present information to the public via these community events.
Immediately upon graduation I went to the University of Miami (kept it in the ACC) for my masters in Broadcast Meteorology. I am currently working towards my AMS Certified Broadcast Meteorology Seal.
What is your favorite part of your current position:
I love being able to talk about my favorite subject for work!
How did your EAS education prepare you for your current job?:
My job is communicating the forecast and EAS taught me how to best forecast with the best technical knowledge out there! I love that it provided me with the the highest quality upper-level technical meteorological information. The program really emphasized not only learning that information and very effectively reinforcing it but it also emphasized learning to communicate that information in a way that makes sense to the general public.
What do you wish you had known as an EAS undergraduate in order to land the job of your dreams?:
Don't listen if recruiters tell you that you can't get a job in a market of "X" size!
